3 Ways to Go Above and Beyond to Optimize Your Executive LinkedIn Profile
3 Ways to Go Above and Beyond to Optimize Your Executive LinkedIn Profile When you start seeing LinkedIn as a way to enhance your career for the long-term rather than simply a platform you need to update to keep up with the trends, then youâll have many more opportunities come your way. In order to optimize your LinkedIn profile, you must go beyond simply filling it out until itâs 100% complete. Of course, thatâs the first step you have to take, but consider it to be the beginning rather than the end result. The best executive LinkedIn profiles are full of recommendations, skills, contacts, connections and much more. Here are three effective ways to go above and beyond to fully optimize your LinkedIn profile. Complete More Than Just The Recommended Profile Sections Once your professional LinkedIn profile writer has helped you complete the necessary sections of your profile, look at what else can be filled in. This may mean adding new skills as you develop them, discussing volunteer experience, mentioning organizations youâre a part of, any coursework youâre actively participating in and more. The idea is to give whoever views your profile a complete view of your skills, achievements and personality. Build Your Network of Connections The more quality connections you have on LinkedIn, the higher up your name will show in the search results. Getting to 500+ connections is easier than you may think, but it can require some effort depending on what stage youâre at in your career. Take a look at companies in your industry and see who you can connect with. You can also consider reaching out to past co-workers to build up your connections list. Any professional LinkedIn profile writer will also recommend joining LinkedIn groups relevant to your industry and participating in meaningful discussions. This may be the most effective way to build your list of connections naturally, since the other group members will get to know you well with the way you communicate. Interact Regularly With Your Connections Continue looking at different executive LinkedIn profiles and reaching out to people to share a piece of news or to simply check in with them. The more your name is in their mind, the better the chances are of them remembering you if an opportunity arises. And as far as the ability to optimize your LinkedIn profile, you may receive endorsements or recommendations from these people as a sign of appreciation for your interactions with them. Professional Resume Services works with executive LinkedIn profiles regularly to ensure they are fully optimized. Having an optimized LinkedIn profile is a necessity in todayâs world of business, but you also have to make sure yours is handled appropriately. If youâre ever in any need of assistance with the development of your LinkedIn profile, feel free to contact us at any time and we would be happy to help.

5 Personal Branding Resume Techniques You Must Try - Work It Daily
5 Personal Branding Resume Techniques You Must Try - Work It Daily Youâve probably heard it a million times: Personal branding is important to the success of a job search. Why is it so important? Related: How To Be The Brand Manager Of YOU Because as a unique job seeker, it helps define you as an individual and makes you stand out as a prime candidate. Must-Try Personal Branding Techniques There are aspects of your background that make you incredibly unique and highly qualifiedâ"and your job is to highlight those aspects so that hiring managers donât have to guess whether youâre perfect for the job. To help you get started, here are five personal branding techniques to try when working on your resume. 1. Develop A Strong Title/Job Target Your title/job target is the first impression a hiring manager will have when reading your resume. This short phrase provides a quick summary of what youâve accomplished and why you are the right person for the job. It helps to set the tone for who you are as a candidate. This tone should remain consistent throughout the resume and any other information the manager receives about you. 2. Add Links To Your Professional Profiles Another great technique for building your personal brand is to link to your professional profiles. Keep in mind, most times, your resume is submitted online and can easily be linked to Web sites. If you link to your LinkedIn and Twitter profiles, as well as one or two other professional sites you have, you give the employer a chance to learn more about the contributions youâve made in your field. 3. Summarize Your Career Highlights You can also develop your personal brand by creating a career summary section. You want the most important moments of your career to stand out in this section. These moments might include your winning salesperson of the year five times, or your efforts as a team leader that resulted in record revenues. Itâs good to list at least four highlights, but make sure theyâre tailored to the job for which youâre applying. 4. Turn Your Duties Into Initiatives Instead of listing the duties you were given on any job youâve worked, itâs great to brand yourself by listing your initiatives. So if you were in charge of taking phone messages and created a new system that made message delivery more effective, donât just write, âAnswered calls and delivered messages.â Write a couple of sentences starting with âDevelopedâ or âInitiated,â then talk about what you created and how it helped the message-taking process flow more smoothly throughout the office. 5. Consider Testimonials Adding testimonials to resumes is still a unique concept to many job seekers, so taking this route could automatically make you stand out. Find two or three reputable references in your field to vouch for your greatness in a one- or two-sentence quote. This could really help to back you up as a strong candidate. Thereâs nothing better than standing out as the strongest candidate each time you apply for a job. Increase the odds of being that person by developing your personal brand in your resume. Career Fairs Aren#8217;t Just for Kids
Career Fairs Aren8217t Just for Kids Yesterday, I found myself saying something I often say this time of year One of my all-time favorite things is to go to a job fairThe response I received to this was not unexpected. The job seeker I was talking to hadnt even thought of attending a job fair since college. They seem so juvenile on some level, dont they?Go Big The Benefits of Large Job FairsI will admit tiny job fairs arent always everything theyre cracked up to be. Ive been to fairs with 10 or fewer employers who have tiny booths and very few actual jobs. These events add little value to your life and could eat up an otherwise perfectly good afternoon. But a good job far can be worth its weight in gold. On mora than one occasion, Ive successfully landed a job as a result of attending one of these events.Large fairs can have as many as 300 or more employer booths. Often, the companies represented are the ones youve been dreaming of, such as Facebook, G oogle, and FedEx. Each employer has a booth thats manned by someone from the companys recruiting team. Theyre there to answer questions, collect resumes, and in some cases, conduct interviews. You heard me right The recruiters often conduct first-round interviews at large career fairs. Can you imagine how much time you could save in your job searchif you could simply walk from recruiter to recruiter in person?Where to Find Job Fairs Near YouFinding the right fair can take time, but it is worth the effort. Start by looking on local chamber of commerce websites and the websites of young professional groups. They often help career fairs get the word out. Then, check out the websites of various national organizations, such as the National Society of Hispanic MBAs, the Society of Women Engineers, or Net Impact. These groups have huge annual conferences. As part of these conferences, they typically host large career fairs. The organizations will often sell career fair-only passes for $100 o r less much cheaper than the full conference price. If youre not sure which organizations to look up, try checking out your local convention centers website. You can usually find a calendar of eventsthat will contain a listing of all upcoming fairs and conventions.Keep in mind that the same recruiters attend many different job fairs all year. The particular fair you attend is not as important as the specific employersyou meet.Attending the FairOnce youve found the fair you want to target, prepare four things your outfit, your resume, your business cards, and your elevator pitch. Study the job fair map provided and decide which employer booths you want to stop by. Look up those companies online to see which open positions they are currently promoting. On the day of the event, arrive early. Prepare to stay all day. Feel confident when talking to recruiters about your job search, and dont be afraid to ask for their business cards. After the fair, follow up through email and LinkedIn.Wit h a little work, youll find job fairs can beinvaluable no matter how old you are.A version of this article originally appeared on The Memphis Daily News.
